Education
At Macmillan Education, we recognise the role that educators play in shaping young minds around the world to create a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable vision for the future. The SDGs are a blueprint for this vision. We designed the Advancing Futures programme to take tangible steps towards advancing the SDGs, especially SDG 4: Quality Education, by:
- Embedding key themes from the goals into the educational content we publish.
- Creating an ongoing conversation around the SDGs, engaging and incentivising the education community (teachers and students) to play an active role in building a more sustainable future.
- Giving educators the practical tools they need to integrate SDG topics into their everyday teaching practice.
Advancing Futures is an integral part of Macmillan Education’s 180-year-old ambition and that of 50¶È»Ò: to support teachers to inspire the next generation and to use the power of education to have a positive impact on society.

Environment
As a responsible business, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint. This includes transforming our supply chain into a more resilient regional model with local hubs, reducing warehousing costs, and cutting logistical emissions. As we transition to a more digitally focused world, we have eliminated CDs and DVDs from our global ELT catalogue, migrating this content to our digital platforms to better support teachers and students. Additionally, our paper policy requires that all paper used in our products comes from known, legal, and responsible sources. We report on progress on environmental initiatives through 50¶È»Ò’s sustainability reports.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
At Macmillan Education, we take pride in our global presence and our commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. We aim to make a positive impact on the communities we serve. DEI is central to our mission as we develop differentiated learning solutions that cater to all students.
Our comprehensive DEI programme is built on three pillars:
- Representation: We ensure our materials reflect and respect the diverse communities we serve, allowing students to see themselves in our resources.
- Accessibility: We minimise barriers to learning so that all students can benefit from our resources.
- Inclusivity: We support teachers in meeting the needs of all students, ensuring equal opportunities for learning.
We strive to eliminate bias and discrimination, nurturing the next generation to become global citizens who embody empathy, kindness, and inclusivity. These values are woven throughout our content.
DEI is one of 50¶È»Ò’s highest strategic priorities. We want our staff to feel able to contribute at their best and thrive, together creating a diverse and inclusive culture with structures that support equitable opportunities for merit-based success.
