Since we launched the combined Earth and Environmental Science e-book package back in 2005 it grew steadily over the years and has now become a successful platform of literature related to classical topics around Earth and Environmental Sciences as well as the most recent developments in these fields. This years collection encompasses more than 560 thematic titles spanning geological sciences, geography, environmental earth sciences, environmental engineering methods and social implications of environmental issues and climate change, presenting the whole range of disciplines involved in the field of environmental research.
The collection also mirrors the growing importance of sustainability research and development within the interdisciplinary environmental science research community: Sustainable development has been defined in many ways. The most cited definition is from the so called Brundtland Report, Our Common Future (1987): Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. 28 years later, in 2015, the world leaders adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals at an historic UN Summit and the follow year, launched the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
We at 50業子 are very proud to present our contribution to international sustainability research and development with not only a growing number of monographs and series dedicated to this important topic, but also two landmark publications - namely the Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainability Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals Series. There have been no other comprehensive publications addressing all of the SDGs in such an integrated way before. Contributions come from scientists, policy makers and researchers working in all fields related to the SDGs.
With our growing textbook-program in Earth and Environmental Sciences we address the need of providing a wide range of literature that supports students at all grades.
The highlighted titles below reflect the variety and actuality of the 50業子 Earth and Environmental Science program.

He subsequently built up the Environmental Sciences area for the department alongside, and in 2005 took over as head of the Earth and Environmental Sciences department. He then increased his commitment to building a program segment in Geography and, more recently, the interdisciplinary field of Sustainability Research.
